White Green Thai Eggplant

I bought these from my local Thai shop to try out and I have to say I am very impressed. They are about the size of golf balls with a smooth skin. I made a thai curry (recipe on Robyns Recipes) and they worked very well, they absorb all the flavours of the curry and soften beautifully. The lovely Thai lady in the shop said they're an essential part of the Thai Green Curry. They are similar to the british eggplant (aubergine) without the slimly texture, personally they're much nicer :) Well worth a try!

Depressing Truths of Society

I was in the gym today working out on the bike with my headphones tuned into the tv. A program was talking about a little boy who developed cancer behind the eye, he had chemo therapy. Given the all clear, then a few years later it returned. This time his whole eye was surgically removed. At the end of the clip the father explained that his son had been psychologically damaged, with insomnia, depression and extreme fear of death.

This reminds me of a horror film, the trauma that child and his family must have gone though is beyond imagination. The fear, pain and emotion that was and still is completely unnecessary. If only I could convey my knowledge to that family, show them the research, success stories and evidence. I see this in my day to day life: at school, we raised money for breast cancer research as one of the teachers went off to have chemo therapy. (We sell cakes! Ironically a contributing cause of cancer.) This makes me wonder why hasn't the knowledge entered the medical profession yet and where does that money actually go? It's going straight into the pockets of the researchers but what are they even doing? To me it looks like zilch! (See quote no.1)

What frustrates me the most is that this was 100% avoidable. The evidence is there, the research is so strong that it should be injected into the medical profession immediately. There is no need for such grotesque and drastic actions to be taken, all it needs is basic, simple and exceptionally magnificent healing powers of fruits and vegetables. If you get out of your bodies way by giving it delicious fresh raw fruits and vegetables the body is able to heal itself. Mend the damaged DNA - reversing cancer or prevent the carcinogen from attacking the cells' DNA in the first place (see pic 1)

The health 'professionals' are completely oblivious to the importance of nutrition and need to be informed now. I find it unbelievably cruel on the patients to withhold this information. The doctors say "we don't know the cause of the cancer but we do have some treatment options for you... You have a choice of: 1)immune suppressing poison that will destroy every rapidly reproducing cell in your body 2) radioactive particles that will kill every living thing in its path 3) amputation 4) leave it, it will spread and you will die."?? Where is the logic in this... How can you heal the body by destroying it? Not going to work, it will always return! You must heal from within by boosting immunity, by removing the deadly animal protein and replace it with vibrant living whole fresh ripe raw organic plants eg bananas! It is that simple. The thing is we do know the cause of cancer but very few people know about it yet. Cancer can only occur in a toxic acidic body, make a clean alkaline body and cancer cannot occur. Think outside the box for a minute. If you get a headache your body is telling you something - dehydrated, tired? But many of us would just go to the medical cabinet and pop a pill. Would you ask yourself what the cause of the headache is and target that?

However, we meet a huge obstacle. Economy. I'm afraid the chemo therapy industry is worth over £2 billion! Companies like Sanofi-Aventis are earning a huge profit from this so would be completely against the nutrition aspect and would most likely do all they can to suppress this information from being spread. If you think about it medical professionals eg doctors are trained in drugs. They know all about them. Who makes these drugs...? Well they aren't going to be made for free, companies are going to make them and will want money in return. Therefore, the patient turns into a good way of making money. Sick patient = money. But don't get me wrong, health care is amazing if you break a bone, or are in a physical accident.

Anyone ever noticed that fruits and vegetables are never seen on advertisements or tv commercials? That's because there is no money to be made from it. Businesses manufacture the raw products turn it into something else and bam they can now make money. No farmer makes enough money to be able to compete for advertising space when they're up against huge companies like McDonalds who would pay a lot more for the slot.

On a final note, not only cancer but every illness, from Alzheimer's to heart disease to diabetes to osteoporosis to allergies are all linked directly to diet. It wouldn't hurt to consume more fresh juicy fruit and veggies. Nature designed these for us, we enjoy the taste, sow their seeds, they grow new life. This not only restores our health but the beauty of planet Earth.

Quote no.1 from cancerresearch.co.uk

'Professor Kevin Hiom is studying how the repair process works in normal cells and how, in some cells, mistakes in this process can lead to cancer. His work could provide clues to new ways of diagnosing and treating breast cancer, and help save more lives in the future.'

Delicious HomeGrown Organic Beetroots

Grown in my Godfather Bruce's garden. I washed and steamed all these beetroot then under running water the skins flacked off to reveal these shimmering beauties. Perfect in soups, salads, blended in a tomato pasta dressing or puréed with chickpeas into a delicious beetroot hummus. Devine even raw grated in salads.

My First Tinned Jackfruit

I bought this from my Thai shop, it was sweet, a little crunchy, chewy and fruity, very nice. I found out that this is the flavour used in the juicy fruit chewing gum which was interesting to find out. I liked it but still cannot wait to taste my first fresh jackfruit. One day I will.

Purple Sticky Corn

I found this at my local Thai shop. Thought it looked interesting so gave it a try. Very sweet and sticky inside the pods. More content inside pods than regular yellow corn. It is unusual, nice but you have to be in the mood :) I ate mine boiled and with rice.

Charming Chestnuts

I found a chestnut tree down the road with its chestnuts fallen to the ground. I was gathering lots of them up when this one fell besides me, so pretty so had to take a photo.

Fresh Produce Haul

I went to the local market and picked up some pretty good bargains. I also went to my local green grocers, and at Lidl I got 2 boxes of bananas. :D

Baby Figling

Mum and I went to the garden centre and found out the back a neglected, sad little fig tree. It was suffocating in a tight plastic container with its roots all tangled up around the base. So we made the decision to adopt it! Yay! So we went out to B&Q and bought a beautiful vibrant blue ceramic pot. With great effort we cut the awful plastic container off of it and placed it in fresh compost. Now it's settling in   nicely drinking lots of water and enjoying the spacious new pot :)

I went for a run on Friday evening, I met this beautiful cow and decided to make a poster for him:

Blackberry Picking

Today I went blackberry and raspberry picking with my mum. We spent 2.5 hours in the fields and it was so much fun. Each full punnet weighing 1kg was £6 each which in total came to £36. At first we were surprised but then I worked out how much they would cost in tesco and on offer per kg it would be £8. So we got a pretty good deal and the experience was awesome too (pick and eat as you go yum!) We have decided to keep one punnet to eat fresh and to freeze the rest for smoothies and dressings. I can't wait to share my recipes with you soon on Robyn's Recipes :)
Here are our delicious produce:

We also bought a pumpkin 3kg at £1.50, and made a fabulous pumpkin soup. We saw a whole field of huge pumpkins, I tried to lift one and it was literally impossible! It must have weighed 3 stone or more, wish I could have bought that one.

Versatile Coconut Oil - Cosmetic Use

Coconut oil has many uses:

1) It works nicely as an all over body moisturiser, especially for dry legs after sun exposure. I have been applying it every morning and night to my legs to help preserve my tan since being on holiday. It melts nicely in the palms once scooped out and smoothes on effortlessly It smells amazing too!

2) Use it as a makeup remover for my eye makeup, I rub it all over then gently wipe it off with a dry flannel.

3) Leave-in hair conditioner, scoop out a half pea size amount and melt in palms, smooth sparingly in the ends of your hair or massage into scalp. Great for restoring hairs natural glossy shine after washing.

4) Nail cuticle treatment, massage into nail beds if hands are dry from over washing.

5) Lip balm, just smooth a little on and your good to go.

6) Foot treatment, rub in between your toes to cure athletes foot, repeat every night for 5 days and it should be a lot better. This is due to its antibacterial properties.

This one is by 'The groovy food company' and is organic extra virgin coconut oil cold pressed. It is found on amazon or in Sainsbury's in the oil (food) section about £7.

Important Hint:  I would not advise eating it though as it is pure fat! Only use externally for true HCRV health :)

Homegrown Carrots

I went round my Gran's house today and she had some carrots in a tub for me to pull up. So here they are nicely arranged in size order :)

Homegrown Apple

Picked straight from the tree this morning. It is a wonderful experience to pick your own especially from your own tree. Free, Organic and delicious. I would definitely recommend if you have the garden space to plant an eating apple tree :)
If you like it chopped up like this, I used an apple corer which makes it so quick and simple.

Vegan Toothpaste

I recently repurchased this toothpaste for the third time today from Holland and Barrette at £2.49. It has a delicious subtle peppermint flavour that doesn't burn your tongue or distort the flavour of your food after using it. It is free from harsh chemicals such as sulphates which are responsible for the frothiness in regular toothpastes. This toothpaste doesn't have that overly frothy lather but a more subtle active cleaning method. It contains Salvadora persica which is known as the tooth brush tree and works amazingly. One tube lasts my family about 1-2 months using a pea size amount. I use an electric toothbrush which works the best with it too.
I would highly recommend this for a simple toothpaste switch for a healthier mouth.

Vegan Lip Balm

I went to town in search of a vegan lip balm today and decided to try out Lush. I entered and asked the assistant who showed me this:
I smelt it and wow a burst of freshness with a sweet lemon sorbet aroma. I was instantly in love and hoped that it worked as well as it smelt. I purchased it at £5.75 took it home and applied a little to my lips, it was very moisturising and flowed on nicely. I haven't put any on since because my lips still feel soft and that was 4 hours ago and I'v eaten and drank since. So in my opinion so far it is very nice. I think it will last me a long long time as I only needed the tiniest amount which lasted 4 hrs. I will try it out for a whole day and see how it lasts.

10 Weeks, 3 days Pure Vegan

I recently got back from Mallorca which was lovely. The variety of fruits was wonderful and allowed my mum and I to be 100% raw for 2 weeks. I read 80/10/10 by Douglas Graham in the first week and was greatly informed about the real hazards meat, dairy, gain and fat have on the body as well as all the recipe ideas and inspirational stories.
I now bulk buy my bananas by the box from Lidl, only £12 per 18kg box. It's not at all embarrassing and the staff there know other people who have bought boxes of bananas. This made me think that there must be some more fruity people in my area :) which is encouraging. I have also found a local grocery shop which is relatively small but I can bulk by my tomatoes there and they also sell cheap awesome Piel de Sapo melons (See picture 1) for 89p.
Today I went to my local Arab high street where I bought a 15 inch long watermelon (see picture 2), a young coconut and a 12 inch papaya (Cost £14). Pretty pricy but well worth it, check out Robyn's Recipes soon for new recipes.
I'm also enjoying running every evening for 10-20 minutes around my area and loving spin classes at the gym 2-3 hours per week. Since being HCRV I have noticed the spin classes getting easier each time so have been able to turn up the tension more frequently, keeping in pace with the instructor and pushing myself harder. I have also been enjoying doing my 100 squats a day.
Today I have eaten purely watermelon (that I bought today) until dinner when I had 10 bananas.

Original Source Review

I decided to try out the vegan original source body wash today. It claims to be natural, against animal testing and packed with essential oils. It also contials 10 lemons! I was very impressed with it as it lathered up nicely, is moisturising and left me with a fruity fragrance. I found it in Boots but it can also be found in supermarkets.

3 Weeks in, Pure Vegan

It has been 3 weeks today that I have been following the high carb raw till 4 vegan lifestyle. I have to say it has been amazing. Freelea's YouTube channel and Durianrider's channel have been so helpful and informative, I have learnt so much, everything they say makes so much sense to me. Today I went to my local thai shop and bought some young coconut juice. This was the first time I tried it and wow gorgeous. I also bought 2 segments of frozen durian which I'm excited to try.
For breakfast I made a delicious 3 banana smoothie with ice, then I had a handful of dates. Snack was 2 bananas and then lunch was a large bowl of lazy leaf lettuce, strawberries as their in season and red grapes. Then for another snack I had blueberries and another 2 bananas. Dinner was delicious, I made Thai fragrant rice (which I also bought from my local Thai shop) with steamed leak, carrot and broccoli.
I have enjoyed eating so much fruit since becoming vegan, I have discovered my love for bananas and medjool dates. My only issue is that I haven't found a local grocer who I could bulk by bananas from. At the moment i'm relying on asda's stock, but it can get slightly embarrassing ordering so many bananas at once.
I have also been running for 10 minutes around the block every other day, it has been very invigorating. Im also making sure I do 100 squats a day, following Freelee's 30 day challenge.
